I hear that CC, but even the generics at Walgreen's don't do what she speaks of, right? Meaning, the sound degradation isn't BECAUSE it's an ipod...that's what I am getting at...I admit to being a sheep, but have tried "non brand" names, and they work about the same (and as you note, cost MUCH less!).

I agree. Most likely its the volume on the iPod turned up to high and that would occur on just about any player.
